Stage report
The fastest stage in Tour history, a flat run from Vichy to Nevers at an average of 50.9 km/h. After a mad day it came down to a sprint, and Søren Wærenskjold pulled off a wild last-to-first turnaround, going from dead last at Le Lioran to winning just 24 hours later, holding off Kooij and Philipsen.
Pogačar stays in yellow.
That average of 50.91 km/h didn’t just make it the fastest stage of this Tour, it smashed a record that had stood for 27 years, beating the 50.36 km/h Mario Cipollini set on the Laval–Blois stage back in 1999.
