Stage report:
A short, hot day in the Massif Central, cut by 30 km because of the heat but still full of climbs. Perfect terrain for the breakaway, and this time it made it all the way. Mathieu van der Poel came out on top in Ussel, beating Johannessen and Pidcock for his third win of the Tour. Funny thing…just the other day the Italian commentators were saying he wasn’t at his best after a quiet start… well, here’s his answer. No changes up top, Pogačar stays in yellow

A hilly day with KOM points on offer shakes things up nicely. El Tiburon shares the stage win with Giacomo Salmoiraghi (double win for him, with his idol MVDP taking the stage) and AleRoggia and, crucially, climbs back to the top of the polka dot standings, taking the lead back from The White Tornadooos by a single point. In the general classification AleRoggia’s Renz Team takes over the yellow jersey, opening a 25-point gap over Jeroen Vandeput’s Molteni, with Giacomo Salmoiraghi’s Scott Cycling Team completing the podium. And now we finally get to see the one rider that separates Renz Team from Molteni.
