Mountain stage with the new CIMA COPPI since the Stelvio has been closed.

Another paradox of this year: the 2244 meters of Passo Sella are considered the highest mountain althoug h on sunday the giro passed the Foscagno (2291 meters). The riders didn’t know it and could not battle for the superbonus up there.

The Cima Coppi was taken by Pellizzari ahead of Quintana

Guess what happened today:

A breakaway with the same old names: Alaphilippe, Quintana, Pellizzari, Steinhauser and Steinhauser; the breakaway was caught by the group but Steinhauser attacked again and was able to make it to the arrival

Second was Pogacar who seemed to be slowing down today but anyway gained seconds on everybody else. Third was Tiberi

The contest

Only the MONKEY had Steinhauser in its roadster but it was not enough to win the stage. The random team is last in GC and nobody can steal this position anymore

Edward Caley’s Slow Puncture wis a back to back stage (third victory this year)

In GC the teams are eroding points to Rene van’s Noort Bitterballen! who now has only 3 mere points advantage on second placed Jeroen Vandeput’s Molteni. Third at 8 points is Davide Guarisco’s Mastechef United and fourth at 20 points is Claudio Ceni’s Come C’enno

Davide Benetello’s Gamba-Pisotni wins the stage and climbs several positions to 4th. keep going
